Production Supervisor

Description:

The Production Supervisor oversees the daily operations of the assembly line team, ensuring safety, quality, productivity, and efficiency standards are met. This role is responsible for supervising, training, and motivating team members, maintaining workflow, minimizing downtime, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

A successful candidate must be able to:

  • Supervise and coordinate the activities of assembly line workers to meet daily production goals.
  • Lead day-to-day activities for packaging and finished goods operations, ensuring production goals are met.
  • Assign tasks, schedule labor, and manage staffing levels to support production demands.
  • Monitor workflow and proactively address bottlenecks, material shortages, or equipment issues.
  • Maintain accurate counts of finished goods and coordinate with warehouse and logistics teams to support timely shipments.
  • Ensure all packaged products meet quality, labeling, and documentation requirements.
  • Monitor production output to ensure quality standards, efficiency, and schedules are met.
  • Ensure optimal utilization of resources, including manpower, machinery, and materials.
  • Enforce safety protocols and ensure compliance with company policies and OSHA regulations.
  • Provide hands-on leadership, coaching, and guidance to assembly line team members.
  • Maintain accurate records of attendance, productivity, training matrix and production reports.
  • Address and resolve operational or quality issues or defects in the manufacturing process.
  • Work closely with other departments to resolve issues quickly.
  • Lead daily start-of-shift meetings and communicate production goals and updates.
  • Ensure proper training and cross-training of team members on standard operating procedures (SOPs).
  • Promote and support continuous improvement initiatives, 5S, lean manufacturing, and other process optimization tools.
  • All other duties assigned.

A successful candidate will demonstrate:
  • Strong understanding of assembly line processes, lean manufacturing principles, and safety regulations.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficient in basic computer applications (e.g., MS Office, ERP/MES systems).
  • Proactive approach to identifying and resolving production issues.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities.
Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or GED required; associate or technical degree preferred.
  • 3+ years of experience in a manufacturing or assembly environment, including 1+ year in leadership or supervisory role is preferred.
Physical Requirements:
  • This position may require the ability to perform tasks that involve standing, walking, lifting 50+ lbs, bending, stooping, computer work, working with live electricity, and other physical activities. Candidates should be able to meet these physical demands with or without reasonable accommodations.
