Adjunct Faculty - Music at Texas A&M University - Commerce

Job Overview

Teaching on a course-by-course basis throughout an academic year in Music department. Opportunities include on-campus, off-campus, or online instruction. Application requires upload of necessary documents through Texas A&M Online Employment Services.

Responsibilities

  • Teach up to seven semester credit hours (up to two courses) in Music disciplines such as instrumental or vocal studio, theory, ear-training, history, world music, education, technology, general education, methods, or ensemble conducting.
  • Develop and manage class syllabi that meet department and college standards.
  • Plan and deliver lectures, in-class discussions, and assignments.
  • Assess student grades based on participation, performance in class, assignments, and examinations.
  • Assist and mentor students as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements

  • Master's degree with at least 18 graduate hours in Music or a closely related field to teach undergraduate courses, or a terminal degree in Music or a closely related field to teach graduate courses.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others.

Preferred Education / Skills / Experience

  • Current relevant professional credentials.
  • College or university teaching experience.
  • Evidence of teaching excellence and/or successful performance experience.
  • Prior relevant industry experience.
  • Prior K-12 music teaching experience, as dictated by specific classroom needs.
