Location: Dallas, TX
Job Type: Full-time
Salary: Competitive, with full benefits
Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8 AM - 5 PM or 7 AM - 4 PM (flexible), weekends as needed

About the Role

Our client is seeking an experienced Chief Estimator to support the growth of their North Texas operations. This role is focused on pre-construction planning, cost estimation, and bid strategy development for large-scale infrastructure projects. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in heavy civil construction estimating, particularly in DOT/municipal projects, earthworks, and underground utilities across both public and private sectors.

Key Responsibilities

  • Identify and evaluate bidding opportunities that align with company goals.
  • Lead project feasibility assessments and pre-bid analysis.
  • Oversee quantity take-offs, cost assessments, and pricing strategies.
  • Prepare detailed and competitive bid proposals.
  • Collaborate with project managers and executives to refine estimating strategies.
  • Build and maintain relationships with subcontractors and suppliers to secure optimal pricing.
  • Participate in pre-bid meetings, site visits, and client consultations.
  • Utilize software such as Viewpoint, Bluebeam, and Adobe for cost analysis and bid preparation.
  • Lead bid reviews and negotiations to ensure accuracy and competitiveness.
  • Analyze market trends and material costs to improve estimating accuracy.
  • Collaborate with other departments to ensure seamless communication on project estimates.

What You Bring

  • 10+ years of experience in heavy civil construction estimating, including 5+ years in a leadership role.
  • Proven success in estimating projects valued at $25M or more.
  • Expertise in highways, municipal roadways, mass excavation, and underground utilities.
  • Proficiency in Viewpoint, Bluebeam, and Adobe (experience with HCSS or Agtek is a plus).
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Stability in work history (4+ years per role preferred).
  • Experience with leading industry firms is a plus.
  • Ability to lead meetings, negotiations, and client discussions effectively.
